What people say

Reviews

Great pilots, great machines

“I have been flying with a lot different companies within BC for the past 10 years, and Sierra Helicopters is one of the best. Working in forestry it is great to have pilots that are experienced with mountain flying, and have the skills to land in tight areas when needed.”

Superior and Professional Service

“Exactly what I needed and the service was incredible. Smooth flight, great value and they got us right where we needed to go. I will definitely be using them again! The hangar was easy to find and in a great location.”

Great Experience!

“Ronn and the Crew at Sierra Helicopters went above and beyond to make the tour I had organized with my clients a great experience! We really enjoyed the black and white helicopter!”

Safety

Safety

Sierra operates a Safety Management System as an integral part of everyday operations. It forms the basis of our BC Forestry SAFE certification, which means both the BC Forestry Safety Council and WorkSafeBC have assessed our health and safety programme.

We hold the WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition and maintain it through an annual audit. We are accredited provincially and federally, and we have operated without an accident since 2003.

Assets used on this page

The logo is Sierra’s own file, embedded directly in the page — the black wordmark has been recoloured to off-white so it reads on the dark background, and the red is untouched. Every photograph is Sierra’s own, taken from the gallery and pages of sierrahelicopters.com and recompressed for this file. Captions use Sierra’s wording wherever the gallery gives one. Several originals date from 2013 to 2016, and the Pitt Meadows shot is only 1,024 px wide, so a current photo set will look sharper.

Photo rights. Three photos in Sierra’s gallery carry outside copyright in their file metadata: the 2017 award photo (BC Achievement Foundation), an aircraft close-up (© Bill Campbell 2010) and a waterfront shot filed as a fire photo (© Steve Pelton). The last two are not used here. The award photo is used and credited in its caption. Sierra should confirm that its permission to show these on the current site also covers a new one.

Certification marks. The four emblems on the certification bar are Sierra’s own design and carry no issuer name or symbol; the issuer and number sit beside each one in plain text. Transport Canada’s logo cannot be used: under the federal identity standard, Government of Canada symbols are protected by the Trademarks Act and may be shown by outside organizations only under a formal partnership or sponsorship agreement, which an operator certificate is not. The BC Forest Safety Council’s SAFE Certified seal appears in the Safety section exactly as Sierra already shows it on its homepage — resized, never recoloured or cropped. The laurel on the award badge is public domain (CC0, Wikimedia Commons).

Every number on the certification bar was checked against the issuer’s own register in October 2026. Transport Canada’s Operator List shows Sierra Helicopters Ltd. as an approved domestic operator, file 15066, under CAR 702 (aerial work) and CAR 703 (air taxi), authorized for dangerous goods. Its Approved Maintenance Organization register shows approval 80-08. The BC Forest Safety Council’s SAFE list of 2 October 2026 shows certificate 4453, valid to 13 November 2027. The COR badge rests on Sierra’s own statement and has not been checked yet — see the list below.

Territory, place names and the Katzie spelling

Two different claims, kept separate. The footer line is a territory acknowledgement — it says where Sierra flies from. It is not a statement about which Nation owns Sierra. The current site says “Indigenous owned” on its homepage and “Aboriginal owned” on its About page, and names no Nation, band or community. Neither does this page.

Pitt Meadows is on the traditional, unceded territory of q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation. The wording mirrors the City of Pitt Meadows’ acknowledgement, which the City developed in collaboration with Katzie. Sierra should confirm they want this line and clear the wording with Katzie before launch.

No Indigenous artwork appears anywhere on this page, deliberately. Formline, Coast Salish and other traditions are distinct and specific designs carry family and Nation rights; without knowing Sierra’s own Nation, generating decoration in any of those styles would be appropriation. If Sierra names their Nation, the right next step is to commission work from an artist of that Nation.

Typography note. The page’s main Barlow is a latin-only subset and contains neither character the Katzie spelling needs — ə and the combining mark U+0313. A second small Barlow subset (BarlowHqm, 14 KB) is embedded and applied through .lang-hqm. Without it the Nation’s name silently breaks to a different typeface mid-word with the diacritics landing in the wrong places. If this page is ported to Squarespace, that subset has to come across too.

Deliberately left out

No aggregateRating. TripAdvisor reviews exist but the numbers are not verified, and rating markup that does not match a visible on-page rating is a manual-action risk. No openingHours until the hangar confirms them.

Confirm before this goes live

  • Photography. Every photo on the page is now Sierra’s own, but most are ten years old and a few are small. A current set would lift the page most: inside the maintenance hangar, the crew, and recent fire and utility work.
  • Reviews are real but old. All three are genuine TripAdvisor reviews, quoted verbatim and attributed — nothing here is invented or paraphrased. Two are from 2013 and one from 2015, which is the actual problem: the newest public review of Sierra is a decade old. Worth asking recent charter and forestry clients for a Google review before this goes live. Cody S’s quote keeps his original wording, typo included, because altering a customer’s words is worse than printing them; clean it only if Sierra prefers. Quotes are trimmed at sentence boundaries, never edited mid-sentence. Still no aggregateRating in the schema — the overall score and review count are unverified, and third-party aggregate ratings are a manual-action risk.
  • WorkSafeBC COR. Sierra’s safety page says it maintains the Certificate of Recognition through yearly audits. WorkSafeBC’s COR employer search (corcp.online.worksafebc.com) can confirm it is current, and BCFSC will issue a COR certificate on request. COR® is a registered mark, and certifying partners supply a logo to certified employers under their own terms; if Sierra’s partner does, that logo can go in the Safety section beside the SAFE seal.
  • SAFE renewal. Certificate 4453 is valid to 13 November 2027. Re-check the BCFSC SAFE list before then, and after each renewal.
  • Street address — resolved. Transport Canada lists 11707 Baynes Road for both the operator certificate and the AMO, matching this page. Treat 602-11715 Baynes Rd as stale and make the Google Business Profile match character for character.
  • AMO ratings. Transport Canada’s register lists the AS350, AS355, Bell 206, EC120, Robinson piston and Sikorsky UH-60 series, plus piston aeroplanes to 5,700 kg. sierrahelicopters.com omits the UH-60 and aeroplane ratings; this page follows the register. Aircraft types appear only in this list because they are maintenance approvals. The page does not state what Sierra currently owns.
  • Ownership wording. The homepage says “Indigenous owned” and the About page says “Aboriginal owned”. This page uses “Indigenous owned” except in the award’s proper name. Sierra should choose one for the whole site.
  • BC Wildfire Service status. Nothing on the current site claims a contract or standing offer, so this page does not imply one.
  • Fire-season dispatch. No after-hours number is published, so no 24/7 claim appears here.
  • Domain redirect. sierrahelicopters.ca currently 302-redirects to the http www host. It should be a single 301 straight to the https canonical.
